In Vietnam, there is currently a population of more than 2 million individuals with visual impairments. However, the number of educational institutions equipped to provide training for around 3,000 blind students annually remains limited to fewer than 20.

Recognizing the challenges faced by the blind nationwide and driven by a strong commitment to tackle this urgent matter, the Center for Technology Support and Development for the Blind was founded in October 2019 under the auspices of the Sunflower Audiobook Library.

Our objective is to deliver technology training to the blind in Vietnam, empowering them to tap into a vast reservoir of knowledge for educational, professional, and personal empowerment.

For more than two decades, the Sunflower Audiobook Library has undertaken various meaningful initiatives to support to the blind community nationwide.

This is a flagship project converting printed books into audiobooks and distributing them for free through CDs and online channels to the blind nationwide.

The program organizes chess tournaments, creating a healthy and entertaining playing field and fostering the development of chess talent among the blind.

The project provides training, instruction, and state-standard computer certification for blind students.

The project offers scholarships of VND 5 million per academic year and laptops to blind students in college, university, and postgraduate; provides VND 2 million per academic year to support blind students in high school.

The project organizes and sponsors blind students to go on beach trips annually and meet with navy soldiers to gain life experiences.

The project provides medical check-ups and free medication to students and visually impaired individuals in various districts.

We believe that technology is the key to enabling blind individuals to access knowledge and gradually gain control of their future. With smartphones and computers, the blind can learn how to perform daily activities more conveniently.

Joining the program, students will be guided on using smartphones and utilizing phone features such as ride-hailing, audiobook listening, website access, among many other utilities.

The classes will be provided FREE OF CHARGE for all visually impaired individuals nationwide, regardless of age, from students to seniors.

After the training program, each student will receive a smartphone as a GIFT to use in their daily life.

This is a meaningful program aimed at helping blind people access technology and improve their life quality.

In the coming years, the Center for Technology Support and Development for the Blind envisions an inspiring journey of greater impacts.
